Description : UN membership for Taiwan End political apartheid! As a sovereign nation that respects human rights, freedom, and peace, Taiwan meets all the requirements of UN membership. But the people of Taiwan have no representation in the United Nations for the past three decades. Taiwan's 23 million people desire their nation to become a member of the international community and make greater contributions to world peace and prosperity. The continued isolation of democratic Taiwan does not reflect the reality and conveys the wrong message to the Chinese government: it stands in the way of mutual recognition between China and Taiwan and of peaceful dialogue. Therefore, we call on the UN to return to the spirit of unity, to stand behind the principle that we are all created equal, and to grant membership to the peace-loving state -- Taiwan. Europe's adherence to human rights and democratisation has long served as an inspiration to the rest of the world. Stipulated in the Treaty of European Union, the principles of liberty, democracy, respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms not only govern the actions of EU, but also are a priority when it comes to external relations. We ask that you support a free and democratic Taiwan by bringing it out of the isolation imposed by China's totalitarian regime and helping it to join all international organisations, including the United Nations. Thank you very much for your support of Taiwan! Taiwanese Association in BelgiumEuropean Federation of Taiwanese Associations
